The seventh episode of the podcast is an insight into the recently open Seoul Museum of Art Craft in the Jongro District.
The opening of the Seoul Museum of Craft Art has long been awaited. Korea's first museum dedicated to craft arts was originally planned to be in September of 2018.
The museum is located in a highly popular touristic area within walking distance of Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, and Gyeongbokgung Palace. Such a privileged location is also a very important historical landmark. The site is where Prince Youngeung (1434-67), the eighth son of King Sejong the Great (1397-1450), built his home and where Sejong died. It is also where King Gojong (1852-1919) built the royal villa Andong Byeolgung for the coronation of his son and successor Sunjong (1874-1926).
Also During the Japanese Colonial Period, the residence became the Poongmoon Girls' High School. The museum which is the first of its kind in Korea is open to visitors to discover the rich history, techniques, and pieces behind diverse Korean Crafts.
