Episode 11: Andy Warhol at the Espace Louis Vuitton Seoul

From his very early selfies to his latest paintings, the “master of the art stage” takes the Espace Louis Vuitton in Seoul.

The exhibition now on view in the space is “Looking for Andy” which includes works of Andy Warhol. Warhol was a successful magazine and ad illustrator who became a leading artist of the 1960s Pop art movements. He ventured into a wide variety of art forms, including performance art, filmmaking, video installations, and writing, and controversially blurred the lines between fine art and mainstream aesthetics.

Long before social media, filters, and influencers, Warhol was already exploring how to build a reputation by making use of his own image as a medium. His works receive influence mostly from the mass media, the world of cinema, and television. Warhol takes from pop culture the essence and uses it to ultimately reach the rank of a social icon.
