Episode 02: Fortune Telling at the Ilmin Museum of Art

Reinterpreting the post-corona era from shamanism and a cosmic worldview

“Fortune Telling”, at the Ilmin Museum is a journey of reinterpreting shamanism and a cosmic worldview. The visitors are invited to look inside and think about the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, a period characterized by uncertainty. The “new normal” is already part of our everyday lives, and this exhibition offers a unique perspective on what futurologists predict for the post-corona era.

The exhibition focuses on the individual and how it relates to others in this new order. Divination, cosmological worldviews of shamanism, “saju” or four pillars of destiny, tarot cartomancy, psychological tests, and the art of divination explore deep inside the individual which is invited to approach its past present and future. The exhibition contents are organized in two sections: “Fate” and “Counseling Tables”. A total of 17 contemporary artists are presenting works. It features a wide array of artworks that approaches us to understand sometimes these clandestine practices, as artistic devices.
